Welcome

Welcome to The 25cent Bin.

Come January, I will be moving to Florida and that is when this blog will truly begin.  My plans are the cry about how I have no friends there, but also make my way through my 6 short box collection of comic books.

My love of comic books has been an on and off affair.  I started reading comics in 2004 when I was a new teenager.  I was the worst customer.  I would have my mother drop me off at a comic book store where I would sit and read all day and only buy a few things when I could afford it.  Every once in a while they would have sales, and I'd really go HAM with the purchases.

From the beginning, I was definitely a DC girl.  There were some non-dc titles that captured my eyes over the years, like Fables or Buffy Season 8, but I mostly stuck to the DCU.  As far as Marvel, I was a huge lover of Captain America, anything written by Ed Brubaker, and Runaways.

My first and most enduring love was Teen Titans.  At that time, it was the Graduation Day Titans, but that quickly grew into an obsession with all things Titans.

When I turned 18, I went straight to work and cut myself off from comics cold turkey.  It was the perfect saving mechanism.  Any time I wanted anything, I'd say to myself "would you rather have that, or a comic book?"  The answer was always "a comic book" so I decided I didn't really need it.

Given my obsession with Titans, you can only imagine my pain come 2011 when Titans were basically erased along with the horrible editing, continuity, and sexism problems rampant.

I am no longer a DC gal.

So, why is this called The 25cent Bin?  Well, I have a confession to make.  I haven't read most of my comic books.  I used to raid the 25cent Bins at conventions and never follow through with actually reading!  I will be reading a lot of classics like the first appearance of Batgirl that I bought deliberately, but mostly, I'll be reviewing cheap rags.

Along the way, I hope somebody finds that interesting.
